Thank you so much for being here with us today. Welcome to this portal that is open of the Full Moon, even a Super Moon in Aries. So a warm welcome. Remember these portals last for around three days of the Full Moon, and in case you are brand new here, we speak on this podcast obviously about holistic health. I'm here with every New Moon and every Full Moon. Those new moons are about intention setting, about new beginnings, about thinking about writing the next chapter of your life, and that Full Moon marks the halfway point in the lunation where we get to sit and look back and forwards. Where we reflect on what we've achieved, and we also looked where we can use our energy effectively to finish the cycle knowing that we've completed all that we could with our resources available. So let me tell you when the Full Moon is in the Northern Hemisphere, it is gonna be on October the seventh at 4:47 AM and this follows the autumn equinox. And that's the time when it's been connected to harvest and feasting and preparing for the darker months ahead. So let's just reflect back there. We had two Virgo moons. We had an Autumn Equinox. How is your body moving through this time? How do you feel as you're moving to the darker half of the year? In this episode, I'm going to be speaking about the shadow side and the gifts of. Aries Full Moon Aries is ruled by Mars, which is the red planet. You may even have seen it if you are keen to look up at the skies at night. And I must say I'm in there. I've been in Glastonbury and North Wales as I record this in, Snowden National Park, Snowdonia. And it's an area of dark skies, so it's a protected area with. Very little, light pollution, and you can really see the constellations and the stars and the nebulous. It's just so incredibly beautiful. But as we talk about, Mars, it is the planet of action. Heat and it brings us back into our inner fire, our roots, and our survival instincts. There's a lot to say in this episode through the trauma informed lens about anger. Especially women and anger. I don't even know if I'll be able to convey all the things I want to say. All the gifts here and the challenges of feeling anger, of repressing anger, but also how to move anger in a healthy way because it's an emotion that we are meant to feel. And I will speak to that later in the episode, but just in case you need further resources, and I'll link later to them. I have done many sessions on how to safely work with anger inside our membership, the holistic health circle from somatic practices to breathworks to yoga, and the next four moon session, the next full moon circle. We'll also be looking at shadow journal prompts or self inquiries on, what we are feeling angry about because we need to know, because it's really side pointing us to what's important in our lives. Areas is connected to our self identity. Who we are being in the world. It's the initiator. It's the first sign of the zodiac. So back in April, we had a new Moon in Aries. So we're at that halfway point. It's the daredevil asking us to face our biggest fears in life. And remember at the Full Moon when there's more light available, it may bring up, it may draw out our shadow fears, those thoughts that we have that perhaps aren't true or aren't true anymore. And that are ready to be resolved, to be witnessed, to be transmuted. Air season isn't just about speed. The air is full. Moon isn't just about speed or boldness, which are some of the imbalance energies. It's about being truer. It's that fire in your chest that isn't something to fear. It is your soul remembering its strength. So this full Moon says, release what dims your fire. Say yes to yourself. Step into passion and aliveness. And we'll speak about passion as well being one of the, imbalance energies later, once we've covered the shadow aspects. But to access that fire, we've got to meet those shadows. They could feel like the whispers of you are too much. It could be the fear of failure, and definitely the way that we silence our ourselves to the ways that we silence ourselves to stay safe. Okay, my loves, let's go into trauma, anger, and the body. So let me just invite some compassion here. When we talk about anger. What we are really talking about is the nervous system response fight or flight. So you may have heard it, you may even know when you're going into this stress response, but let me just say that anger isn't random. It happens because the body perceives a threat. It could be a real threat. There could be a real challenge to your survival here, or there could have been in the past, or it could be a perceived threat that you think that somebody is angry at you or you think that somebody has got it in for you. So it braces itself preparing for a fight or to run away to mobilize. But this is for your survival. So it is a protection response. It's, there's nothing wrong with that. We want you to be protected and to stay safe. It's mobilizing you. You know that feeling of anger when the heart is pounding and you feel perhaps adrenaline rushing through you. It is actually a secondary emotion. Behind the anger, behind the heat, there is something more tender. A boundary has been ruptured, A boundary has been crossed, a deep hurt, a disappointment, or an old pain being revoked that hasn't yet had space to heal. So when I work with anger with clients, I do feel it's important to move slowly. So you can do this on your own, moving gently or with a trusted practitioner. And one way to begin is through a simple like space clearing practice, sitting and breathing and just orienting so that you know you're safe in your environment. But beginning just by journaling. Journaling what you are angry about. Without censoring or explaining, but just letting the words spill onto the page. And the important thing here is the words flow out is what sensations do you notice in your body? So there could be some sense of heat rising, some tightening perhaps around the jaw or the fists pounding heart, or even stillness, like a numbing out and unable to connect with a sensation. Also to ask yourself what thoughts or stories are linked to this anger. This is quite insightful and interesting, and I'd certainly advise. Creating some space to have support around stories, and the thoughts because when they stay in our own head, they can ruminate. Support is a good idea, whether that's through conversation or through, somatic practices. What emotions sit under the anger? So usually, like I said at the beginning, that anger is a secondary emotion. But is there fear? Primal fear underneath, is there grief or hurt or shame? And what does this anger mean in the bigger picture of my life? So usually behind anger, there is this. Other emotion that is connected to purpose in your life. So this process can help anger shift from feeling overwhelmed or locked to being heard and understood. And I would always advise alongside this, some foundational practices that steady the body. So for all my work, whether it's yoga or somatics, or any of the retreats or holistic health circle, we would always start with orienting and grounding. I've mentioned this in other episodes, letting the breath be a bit more free. So breathing into the belly to soften that racing response of the fight off night. Moving or shaking. So anger really needs, energy. It needs an outlet and it needs action. So things like shaking, running or simple rituals like lighting a candle or covering yourself a blanket in a sacred space where you feel held. Because when you tend to anger in this way, it gives it an opportunity to transform. Instead of feeling like a wild fire that can consume you, it becomes a hearth fire, one that warms, protects and fuels you. And that is the exact medicine of Aries. It's a fire sign, and Mars, the Warrior Planet. Anger is primal, instinctual, and protective, but it's not here for only destruction is the fire that clears space for new growth. The courage that sets us on our true path, the passion that fuels our life purpose. So this full moon really reminds you that when your anger is met with awareness and understanding, it can become courage. And in fact, I was reading a wonderful book by Sarah Wilson, this one Wild and Precious Life, where she breaks down the word courage. Rage is obviously in that word, but couer, which is French for heart, rage of the heart. So when anger is honored, it becomes direction, and when it's embodied, it becomes passion. it's a fire that doesn't burn you out, but burns everything away that keeps you small. I did want to read from a fantastic blog that I found by eggshell therapy.com, and it's about symptoms of repressed anger and it links to highly sensitive people that repress anger and why that might be. So I'll just speak to some of the symptoms. First of all. What I'd also say is I speak to this for a personal lens as a perimenopausal, highly sensitive, woman, a woman of privilege as well, and able-bodied, a lot of clients say that they're drawn to me because I'm very calm and you might. Even hear that in my voice, it can come across as very peaceful and calm. But I do embody anger and I do get angry and I'll talk later in the episode about how I channel the anger., I used to internalize it. You can internalize anger and you can externalize and actually internalizing my anger used to lead to self-harm. So if we repress the anger, it come become very dangerous. But some other, symptoms of repressed anger. They can be psychosomatic symptoms and physical ailments such as headaches and areas rules the head and the face. It can be jaw clenching and teeth, grinding chronic cough and digestive issues. Emotional numbness. After feeling anger for a long time without any direction, we then shut it down and it goes into this numbness, which could become very tiring. It can go into burn out. So these words, fire burning, burnout, lethargy. Depression, a lingering sadness without clear reason, a lack of motivation or chronic procrastination, urges to hurt oneself. So that's that internalizing of the anger, the inability to stand up for oneself and thus let others take advantage of them having unreasonably high and relent relenting standards. So that's back to that perfectionism that we talk about with a Virgo New Moon. Oh, this one lady is having a harsh inner critic, an inability to relax or have pleasure in your life. Confused sense of self identity or identity confusion or crisis. So this one we see much later in life. As we are going through the perimenopause into the menopause and we haven't processed that anger or given it direction, we start to lose a sense of ourselves, especially I hear it from mothers. When the children flock the nest and they have a little bit more time and start to think who am I? Who am I now? And this can feel overwhelming rather than opening up new doorways and pathways. Some other symptoms or un repressed anger, codependency, paranoia, and intense anxiety, and a tendency to ju judge others sudden outbursts that surprise others. A lack of satisfaction in relationships and friendships or broken relationships or affairs but reminder that the full moon might bring this anger to the surface. What we can ask is how are we gonna channel this anger? What's behind it? What I found is because anger loves mobilization, part of that fight off flight response, it tenses the muscles ready to move. So if you are having some anger come up to you, how will you move it? So activism for me is a fantastic way to channel that anger with passion. So standing up for those who are experiencing injustices and Aries. Moon happens in Libra season, which is very much about the scales of justice. So my personal favorite ways are for supporting environmental and animal charities because this is really where my passion lies. And when I say environmental charities i'm talking about humans as well. I'm talking about earth, the planet, and all that's on it. So people that are,, disadvantaged or disabled or marginalized as well. I do like to go out and march with people. I like to,, letter write. I like to sign petitions. I like to eat a plant-based diet. I'm also trained as a plant-based chef because this is a way for me to channel my love of animals. Giving people food, which is plant-based, that they absolutely love and delighted by. So the other ways I do it is through my work. I really speak to the imbalances that women experience in this patriarchal society. The way that the medical system was designed on a man's biology and therefore women are at disadvantage. And this really shows up in the perimenopause when we start to, feel those physical symptoms that can be really hard to manage. So these are where I channel my passions. What I also speak to is women and anger. It can feel dangerous or it has felt dangerous. Particularly if you were a child that felt they were unable to feel or express anger because you were discouraged, punished, shamed, silence, or ignored when you tried to express yourselves. Or you may have had aggressive, violent, or unpredictable parents and you knew better than to add anger to anger. And I spoke earlier about externalizing and internalizing anger. So that internalizing would be through speech towards yourself, that inner harsh critic, that would really manifest for me I didn't learn how to manage my anger, and it really stays within the body. If you have a response of anger where the adrenaline and the cortisol spikes, but you don't get to complete that cycle, you don't get to metabolize those hormones. They will keep cycling out through the body. And for me, they were becoming panic attacks and absolute chronic. Jaw gripping, so they, it's really important to be able to be with your anger. Anger is not an enemy. It is the guardian of boundaries. It's the spark of life, purpose and passion. It is this signal flare of unmet needs. Without anger, there is no fire to protect what we love. No fuel to ignite change. So this moon really says, let the fire move through you. Not destroy you, but liberate you. So again, I'll just speak a little bit more about how to process, but like I said, if you want held sessions, I do this inside the holistic health circle with my movement sessions, somatic and yoga sessions and breath work, but some small and accessible practices. Movement again. I've said that many times. Shake, dance, stop, go for a fast walk. Anger is energy and it needs motion. And in fact, recently I was going through a medicine journey and I was bullied like many of us as a child. It came up into my mind out of nowhere and I thought, it's coming up for healing. What does it need? It needs movement.'cause I was angry about being bullied, being picked on. And, when I went for a run, I held that in me and I was like. You can metabolize that feeling now. Now it's safe like big Sarah's got you in Internal family systems. This is self energy. I've got you. I'm an adult now and I can help you process this anger that wasn't safe to do for you as a child. Another thing which is great for moving anger is your voice screaming to a pillow, sing loudy chant, or speak what you swallowed down. Breath works which are brilliant for processing. Anger, lion's, breath. Sharp exhales to clear heat from the body. Boundaries. Such a big one. Say no more often, define your non-negotiables. Protect your energy. And when I say boundaries, I will speak to this more in other episodes, and it will probably come into the Libra New Moon episode as well. Libra is about relationships and boundaries are so important in relationships, but the relationship with ourself for areas is where we start. So if we can't even uphold the boundaries to ourself, it's less likely we can do them in relationships if we can't use our voice as well. Set your boundaries, know your values, and uphold those boundaries to yourself. So those micro habits give anger a pathway to leave the body rather than calcify within it. And I've got a lovely self-inquiry or Aries shadow moon, journal prompt for you. How do you react when you feel powerless and what would claiming your full power look like? The gifts of an he is full. Moon is definitely being able to tap into your courage. The courage of your heart. The fire of your heart. It's also a very confident sign. It's, the trailblazer of the zodiac. It's enthusiastic. It brings that passion, it brings honesty, it brings bravery and spontaneity. So at this halfway point of the astrological year, let's go back to the areas you mean in April, what did you set out to do or achieve or feel? And at this halfway point, this full moon in October, what needs some more fuel on the fire? What do you need to still work towards? What is it you still want to accomplish or feel or succeed with? And where could you stoke the fire of the passion again? But what are you celebrating as you reflect back, what have you been transformed inwardly or outwardly? And I'd love you to drop me a personal message, whether it's in the comments or an email or a DM on Instagram, holistic Health Collective UK on Insta. And let me know what you set out to achieve in April that you actually have. Celebrate each other. Let's celebrate you. So this Aries is for Moon, is that reminder anger, buyer and passion are not here to burn you out. They're here to burn away what is no longer for you. And this is what we do inside our full moon circles in the membership. Anything that we are holding onto, which is dense and heavy and eating away us, we come to Alchemize during these sessions. So we do a forgiveness practice, which is an integral, very high spiritual healing practice of forgiveness. And this isn't for anyone. Our else. Of course it will have an impact on everyone else, but this is for you. This is so that the poison doesn't live within you anymore. And Aries is ruled by Mars, which is a fire planet, and that energy of the sun, the fire, it reminds us that beneath all that shedding the truth, who you are will always remain. So remember to do some releasing under this full moon, some celebration. I want you to think about where you need to rise and where you need to let your fire roar. So I hope you've enjoyed the episode. Please share it with anyone that you know that's into astrology, into health, and inside the membership we will speak to how you can support the body parts that come under influence. Under this moon, which is the face and the head, we'll speak to that jaw gripping, which is often related to anger, unprocessed anger.
