A warm welcome to this Virgo New Moon. This is Sarah inviting you in for about 20 minutes to find out about the medicine of this season, this new moon. I feel this is a really important one for women especially, or for the feminine energies that run through us all. So I'm gonna invite you to take a moment to arrive. And really invite that presence. So maybe you are going to connect with your breath. Maybe you might just notice your body because perhaps you've been in your head, or connect with your environment some way. Just let your eyes wander around your space where you are and perhaps land on something that feels beautiful, exciting, or you like the way that the light falls there. This is how we start each moon ceremonies, and in fact, any container that I work with you in online or in person. So really becoming present really being able to absorb this information. You've carved out this time, and I'm ever so grateful to you for being with me in this sacred container. And so in this episode as I talk about the Virgo Medicine, I'm going to be speaking a lot about perfectionism as a stress response and also gut healing, which is linked to the body part. Virgo rules and of course new means and what they represent will also be going into Eclipse season. So hold on tight. In the last episode, I did mention preparing for Eclipse season by beginning to detox and clear your body clear and keep your spaces clear. They can be bumpy rides, but forewarned is forearmed. And if you're ready, it can be much smoother. Back to Virgo New Moon. Virgo is an earth sign and she arrives in London on and Saturday on the weekend, which is, going to be August the 23rd at 7:06 AM in the morning. And just a reminder that the new moon's come when we have that blank sky. The sky is dark, the cosmos is quiet. You might feel into a moment of stillness. And the stillness invites us to go inwards. Full Moons draw things out, shine lights on, things reflect back. But yeah, this is a moment where we can take an exhale and because we can't see the new Moon, we are asked to feel it. For our bodies, for our hearts, for our intuition, and in this emptiness, it can feel vast. It could feel unsettling, but it could be this quietness where we meet new possibility, like a fertile soil or blank canvas. But definitely a chance to begin again and write this next chapter of your life. So just inviting you to notice how that lands. Do you get overwhelmed by choice of overwhelming possibilities, or do you think, yeah, I'm ready for this i'm a sovereign being, and I'm gonna write this next chapter. So the Medicine of Virgo. She's an earth sign, so she's grounded, she's intentional, she's deeply sacred. The archetype or the glyph is the virgin, but not really in the way that the word is used today. It's oldest, meaning virgin means whole onto oneself. And when I first studied, moonolgy actually, so shout out to my teacher, Yasmin Boland, who is an astrologist. When I learnt out whole onto oneself, it really brought me back to me and it asked you, particularly on the Full Moon in Virgo, how much of yourself are you giving away? And that Without having to perform, without having to give, without having to show up in a way that's expected to you, you are already whole. And in fact, I called my first course that I wrote,, my trauma informed course, feeling Wholeness. And this is about us accessing that, yes, I'm enough. I have everything I need within me. So Virgo is the healer, she's the artisan. The one who takes spirit and weaves it into form. She could be a herbalist who knows each leaf by heart. She is the temple priestess, tending to the sacred space with devotion, and she is the one who reminds us that every act of care, particularly towards our body, could be towards our work, our family, the earth, or each other. It can become like a prayer. So that's true. We talk about ceremonial spaces and we hold space, but every, any moment, any herb, Anything that you do can be a prayer, a living prayer, and even to the point where you're doing the washing up, you know you can make this meaningful, you can make this purposeful. The gifts or kind of the in balance energies of Virgo season, the Virgo New Moon. She is so dedicated. Virgo, the Virgin. She's resourceful, she's practical. Earth signs off and are, you know, they're not up in the head. Lofty, ungrounded. But they're very close to nature and she helps us refine, organize, and create habits that nourish us. So there's this shift that you may have felt a very subtle shift in late summer where Virgo arrives. Almost. Well, we do cross the threshold just into the Autumn Equinox portal around the 21st, 22nd of September, and we've come out of this Leo energy that asks us to be playful and bold and confident and perhaps a bit more restful. And we walk into Virgo season, which is asking us to come back to, I wanna say routines, but rituals as well. And I'll speak about how. Wonderful. They can be for the nervous system. So like all signs, Virgo has her out of balance energies as well, or opportunities to grow. So when the energy is in balance, it can really tip into criticism, self-doubt, stress, overwhelm the perfectionism. And I'm going to talk about perfectionism as a stress response. This is so important for. Women that want to move forward in their life, but feel held back because they don't feel good enough. It's not quite right. I won't ever be able to get to where I want to be with this thing, so there's no point in even starting perfectionism shows up because we want to be flawless. Not because, not because we want to be flawless, but because we feel we have to be at some point. It was a survival strategy. I want to tell you that perfectionism is a stress response. It's the nervous systems way of saying, if I get it right, maybe I'll be safe. If I don't make a mistake, maybe I won't be judged, hurt, abandoned. For many, it was a way of protecting, ourselves in environments where love or safety felt conditional. And honestly, the ladies that come into my containers, particularly feeling wholeness, which is a real trauma informed space. All of our spaces are, the holistic health circle is of course. But this is where I go deeper, working one-to-one or in groups. They really feel like. Love is a conditional thing. Maybe from the primary caregivers, parents, the reward and punishment system that we've lived in, if you are a good girl, then you are, then you are loved, then you are acceptable. But also in relationships, relationships where you felt you would be seen, felt or heard if you were showing up in a certain way. Conditional. And so when we notice that inner critic, when we catch ourselves obsessing over the details or holding ourself to impossible standards, it isn't that you are broken. It's that your body once learn this pattern of protection and. So many ladies won't get started on things. They won't get started on a new health routine or ritual. They won't get started on a new relationship. They won't get started on, getting themselves out there. And many women that come into our spaces start off in traditional jobs, teachers or you more corporate based jobs and. They actually often train in the healing modalities, but hold themselves back because they're not where they want to get to. They dunno how to do marketing. You know, they're not as good as whoever else they're comparing themselves to. And this holds them back from their purpose. And this is a strain of perfectionism. One of our, you probably know this if you're in our world, Hannah, and I always coin the phrase imperfect action. Because when we don't move forwards, when perfectionism keeps us frozen, it's basically saying, I'm not good enough until it's flawless. And I promise you, I work with so many clients and within myself, and even within, I notice this within men as well. They set themselves to impossible standards. If they actually get to where they want to be, they move the goalposts. And they say, oh no, it doesn't really count because, and find a reason, and they push the goalposts further. So whether you do this with like training and exercise with savings, with a work project, whatever it is you are doing it with, perhaps you are thinking on that now. Perhaps you're noticing it in a few areas of your life. Pacha is the myth of not enoughness and I'm reading a book which is incredible, called The Soul of Money, and this is by her name escapes me in this very moment, but she's a great teacher for me. She works with the pacha Mama Alliance. She works with the Hunger Project, so she's got, incredible, she's leaving a huge legacy and she talks about the law of sufficiency when things are enough. And so I'm really working in that within my psyche and within my body. What does enough feel like? Yes, we might want to move forwards, we might want to deliver something that is a little bit more polished, a little bit more like. We show like we care, like we've devoted a lot of time to this, so instead of perfectionism, we can choose that. We can choose devotion, we can choose care. We can choose presence like I spoke about at the beginning. And so I'm gonna invite you to move forwards under this moon, not until it's flawless, but to take that one step to plant the seed. That's what these new moons are about, planting the seed. You don't need to see the end of the project before you get started. So maybe I've touched a nerve there. I'm gonna talk about the vagus nerve and I'm going to talk about the digestive system in the gut. And remember our free download, it tells you, it shows you, if you go to the show notes, you can grab this free download. But each astrological sign rules a different part of the body. Last month we were on neo season, it ruled the heart and, the upper back. Asked you to work on the spine to be flexible and strong and open in your heart? Virgo rules the digestive system and the gut. That incredible network that processes not only your food, but your emotions, your stress, your experiences of life. So when it's imbalanced, it can really show up in the body. So for many of you, it could look like, things like bloating. Or indigestion after meals. Irregular bowel movements. So it could be constipation or you know, that urgency. Definitely food sensitivities, that it could be like they appear out of nowhere and skin flareups. The gut and the skin are really closely linked to gut health. You know those normal ones, fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, they actually stem from the gut nervous system connection and hormonal shifts or PMS symptoms that worsen when your digestion. Is stressed, and you've probably heard your gut is sometimes called the second brain. And Virgo reminds us that when we feed ourselves physically and emotionally, this becomes the foundation of our wellbeing. And the vagus nerve, has a link here. This is the longest nerve in the body running from the brain through to the lungs, the heart, the ovaries, but the digestive system. So if you are in a chronic state of stress, and I spoke about perfectionism being a stress state, so if you picked up that you are showing up in a few areas of your life, a bit stressed out a little bit, perfectionism tendencies, working on the vagus nerve is going to be a surefire way to bring yourself back to balance. And you can do it through breath work, but you can do it through, food, through your diet, through the way that you eat. So I particularly set intentions around gut healing and think of it like soul healing. Small rituals, like eating more slowly, drinking enough water, or simply pausing to breathe before a meal can be actually really profound on your healing. Listening to your body's cues, tending to rest and seeking nourishment that truly supports you. You can set these intentions under Virgo season and perhaps see bigger results with them. And so inside the Holistic health Circle, we have a lot of workshops on gut healing, and Hannah will be doing an Autumn Health talk around. Gut healing. This is the season. It really comes into the spotlight. And things like cultured foods, we'll be speaking about that. They would've got your ancestors through those cold months, and they can be very healing. However, if your gut is out of balance, you need to know how to do it in a way that's going to work for you. Otherwise, it can actually bring up more flare-ups within the body. We also have, sessions called Ask Hannah, Hannah's and Naturopathic Nutritionist alongside many gifts that she has and many modalities in the healing arts. But when you, perhaps you'll watch a Gut healing workshop or the Autumn Health Talk. And you'll try something and you want some tweaking or some more personalized advice, then you can go and ask Hannah. So we have a weekly q and a session, and you can ask for particular support on supplements or, dietary advice that she will give to you. So it's, it's really about community healing, but individual healing as well, which the moon phases always invite us into as well. So I have a so inquiry for you. How can you serve yourself first under this new Moon? What does it mean for you to be sovereign, to be whole? What does it mean to be whole to thyself? And I'm going to give you. An invitation. I'd really love you to personally get in touch with me. I feel so rewarded when you go. I've been listening to your podcast. I've been told in person or on, private messages on Instagram. But if you could email me or drop me a pm and say what one. Action step. What New Moon intention are you going to set to serve your health under this full moon? So this might be linked to your gut health, and if you want that accountability, if you want to go deeper in this, that's what we'll do in the New Moon ceremony and that we do every new Moon and every full moon. And perhaps this perfectionism, quality you've noticed within yourself, you might want a little bit of extra help with. So really invite you to step into the circle this month. Or if you love in-person events. At this time of recording, we have one space left where we go in Glastonbury on our Autumn Equinox retreat. And we'll be making, we'll do be doing medicine making. We'll be working on the vagus nerve ins and breath work and movement sessions. I'm going to be making you wonderful brunch and Ayurvedic plant-based food that will help to work on your gut and nourish you deeply. And you're gonna be with a group of non-judgmental women. So if you're working on those perfectionism qualities, this is a safe space for you to really show up and be held and be seen. So that's my invitation. If you want more information, please get in touch, but it is on our website, holistic Health collective.co uk. And so as I begin to close this. I want to remind you that Virgo season is not about being flawless. It's about being true. It's about letting the divine move through your body, through your work, through your presence in your care. Just like Virgo, you are a vessel where formlessness becomes form, where the intangible becomes tangible, where it becomes earthly and embodied. Where those new moon dreams and ideals become reality and where love becomes living. This is a gift. Each new moon is, and you get to plant the seeds and they may not be rooted perfect soil, or you may not have your life completely together, but that's okay. You are present and you're taking one step forward with devotion. So I'm gonna close by inviting you to come back to your environment, your breath, your body, and may your choices be rooted in care. May they come from the truth of your heart, the wisdom of your body, and the love you are here to create with. So thank you. I'm sending you so many new mean blessings. And of course, remember we will be walking through an eclipse season here, which I'll talk about more in the next episode. Eclipses can really collapse timelines. They can be a, an opening and a closing of a door and so you might want some support with anything that you're going through. Please reach out. We do offer one-to-ones. So I'm going to just close the session there and send you warmth and love under this new moon, and thank you so much for listening.
