Boundaries, HSP's & Reparenting Yourself Under The Cancer New Moon (Ep 24)
Highly sensitive people lets talk about this new moon in Cancer.
How do you protect yourself if you are feeling hypersensitive or if you resonate with being an HSP? Because you can really tune in and channel the gifts of being an HSP if you've got the energy to do that.
So as we tune into the emotional waters of this Cancer New Moon, I wanted to speak about something deeply connected to how we feel and how we relate, which is, attachment emotions and the inner child. Our attachment style is shaped in early childhood, formed through how our caregivers often, can be our parents or primary caregivers responded to our emotional and physical needs....keep listening to tune into the rest.

Speaker View & Screen Share:Welcome to the portal that is open of the cancer new Moon. So warm. Welcome to this space with me, Sarah. I'll be talking about the medicine available. Of the intuitive, the empath, the highly sensitive, this wonderful water sign that asks us to drop into our emotions and the benefits of doing that. I'll be offering you your soul inquiries and rituals to work with this new moon. So let's dive in and just remind ourselves when we work in a cyclical fashion, what the time of the new moon means. So this is when we don't see her in the sky. There's less light available and it's invite us to draw inwards to take a pause to listen to ourselves. And if you listened to the last episode, Sagittarius Full Moon, I spoke about the menstrual cycles and how when we've got more estrogen at the time of, ovulation. We may be invited to go more into the community. We may be more confident, we may be slightly more extrovert, and if we are in tune with nature at the time of the full Moon, we may also feel this way. And it's the opposite with the new moon. Less light, less stimulation, a time of introversion and a time for you. This is what we see in nature, this rhythm of expansion and contraction. One, not better than the other. Both absolutely necessary for life and for fall and a rich life. And also just to honor your uniqueness. It might not be that case for you. It might be that when you menstruate that you feel really connected to community., often if I'm feeling imbalanced, I like to offer treatments at this time, as I really able to tune inwards deeply, all my. Psychic abilities seem a little bit heightened. And so there are many benefits of that. And so it is not to say this is the formula, this is how you should fit, but you really get to use the moon phases as an opportunity to check in with yourself, with your life, with your community, and what's going on for you. So let me tell you when the New Moon is in London. It's new on June the 25th at 11:31 AM and cancer, which is also known as Moon Child, it's ruled by the moon. Each astrological sign is ruled by planet and the moon is queen of emotions, and cancer is a water sign. So we get three signs in each element. Pisces is the first moon sign of the year. Cancer is the second, and Scorpio is the last one. And so each one invites us to touch in with our emotions, but at different levels. And one of my teachers always says about cancer being like in the rock pool, hanging out with his friends and just feeling into emotions. Whereas something like Scorpio and Pisces are gonna ask you to take a much deeper dive. If you're not working with the cycles consciously, you might be thrown into the depths of your subconscious patterns and your emotions. So forewarned is forearmed or in tune, allows us to be, ready so that we can move with the rhythms of nature. So the main medicine of this moon encourages you to drop out of your mind. We are a mind centric culture. It's very safe for many of us to spend more time up in the head where we can move more quickly and rather than feeling, but this moon is about feeling. Not asking, why do I feel like this? Why do I feel so tired? Why do I feel so emotional? Oh, why do I feel so alive all of a sudden? But how do I feel and having no attachment to that, how am I feeling? So this is one of the first things that we do inside our moon circles in our membership. How do I feel? And we scan through our physical body, our energetic body, our emotions, our environment, and our inner cycle. And we just build this record of how we are feeling. And of course the mind quickly jumps in trying to question what did I eat? Or is it a lack of sleep? Or did this person trigger me? Which can often be mirrored on the form moon to us, but just noticing with non-judgment, curiosity, how am I feeling? And the purpose of this. With awareness, we create a platform for change. Yes, we need to take action. And that's what the waxing cycle of the moon does the first half of the moon cycle. Building energy on, first of all, getting really truly in touch with the truth of how we are, knowing which direction that we want to head towards, and then putting the action steps in to get there one day at a time. One moon phase at a time. So it's really about pacing. So I love the medicine of this moon. It really offers us a chance to embrace our emotions as waves, waves coming in and waves going out. And this can be the starting point of nourishment and growth for you. It also invites you in to tune into your intuition. Into your body and your home is your body. It's a very family-centric sign. And as it's ruled by the moon, it's really connected to a mothering energy, and I'm going to speak about childhood attachment theories and re-parenting or mothering ourself. And so at this moon, you may have amplified sensitivity. Heightened empathy and emotions you may be feeling more within you and more from others, perhaps, particularly in your family unit. And as I am recording this, I'm pouring myself, as you may hear, one of our organic herbal blends, which is called the Self-Love Blend. This is absolutely ideal if you are a woman looking to balance your hormones. If you are looking to work with your sensitivities and if you're looking to use herbs as a way to naturally balance your health. And what's in this tea is organic rose, petals, calendula, and red clover. So it was designed by Hannah, who's our naturopathic nutritionist. So let me just tell you a little bit about Rose in particular. So Rose helps alleviate menstrual cramps, reduce stress and anxiety, and it supports the skin. It's a really great wound healer, and it's good for digestion as well. So it is been used as, centuries old allies, very soothing emotionally, and it's heart opening. It can be calm into your nervous system. Ideal when emotional waters feel choppy, feel that my heart opening so wide when I, have rose, whether it's chewing the petals or drinking it as a tea. So I'd really recommend it for highly sensitive souls. So I'm gonna speak a little bit about that. HSPs, I might refer to that as highly sensitive people. It is a neurodivergent trait linked to deeper sensory processing. So this rose tea can be a really gentle grounding ritual. So some of the traits of A HSB, they possess. Rich empathy and so much in depth. You might feel very sensitive to sounds or people's energy. You might be a really deep thinker, a deep processor. And while this can be seen in. In the systems that we live in, it can be a bit of an inconvenience, if we would need to withdraw from loud noises, or we feel quite sensitive to the foods that we eat. As A HSP, as I've grown up, I've had quite a lot of eye rolling around this, scratchy materials on my skin, that kind of thing. But when we bring boundaries in, when we start to know ourselves and speak from the heart, with love to say, I'm a really deep processor, and sometimes I need a little bit more time alone, so I'm just gonna be quiet, for the next hour. Or perhaps, I'm gonna have a digital detox over the time of the full moon or a time when I'm, bleeding. For me, it's gonna look different for you, but you get to tune in and set compassionate boundaries and boundaries are for you and safety for others. And this is where Cancerian, the crab, shows us really beautifully. It has this soft inner center and this harder exterior. So it's creating this safe boundary around it. It's home is inside its shell, so it needs to create that protection. And so how do you protect yourself if you are feeling hypersensitive or if you resonate with being an HSP? Because you can really tune in and channel the gifts of being an HSP if you've got the energy to do that. If you don't feel unsafe, if you feel like your energy is there with you. So as we tune into the emotional waters of this Cancer New Moon, I wanted to speak about something deeply connected to how we feel and how we relate, which is, attachment emotions and the inner child. Our attachment style is shaped in early childhood, formed through how our caregivers often, can be our parents or primary caregivers responded to our emotional and physical needs. And even though it starts when we're a child, it's in our past, it still impacts our present. How we navigate life, how we love, how we relate with others, how we set boundaries and protect ourselves, and how we regulate and soothe ourselves. It really shows up in co-regulating and self-regulating. So I'll speak about attachment styles just so that you can have a map of your emotional nervous system and notice your own patterns in closeness and conflict in self-soothing and boundaries. So there are four core attachment styles. They're secure, anxious, avoidant, and disorganized. Secure attachment is you learn that love is consistent and safe. You're generally able to connect and self-soothe without too much internal chaos. This is a whole, chapter in feeling wholeness, which is one of my one-to-one trauma-informed somatic containers that I take groups and individuals through, and then onto anxious attachment. You might feel hypervigilant in relationships subconsciously or consciously fear abandonment, needing reassurance, struggling with self-trust. The avoidant attachments. You might be more prone to emotional shutdown. You value independence over closeness, and you struggle to let others in when things feel vulnerable. And disorganized or fearful avoidant attachment. This is often the result of trauma, so you may crave closeness and fear it leading to this push pull pattern or an inner confusion or inner conflict. So let me just start by saying what happens in the past doesn't determine your future, and that's a powerful truth. Your attachment style isn't your destiny, and you get to write a new chapter under the Cancer New Moon. You get to connect with emotional safety. This is where re-parenting comes in, this family-centric sign, this very beautiful, feminine mothering energy of the cancer medicine. It's a practice of giving yourself the kind of care and presence and soothing you may not have consistently received as a child. And so re-parenting could look like talking to yourself more warmly instead of criticizing. Creating inner safety when emotions feel overwhelming. So inner safety might look like focusing on your breath when you feel very anxious and noticing it's in support of you without trying. Your breath is here for you. It might be connecting with a memory of something that feels safe and comforting for you. Taking yourself to a place, to a person or even a pet often that creates that sense of wellbeing for you. Definitely for women, this is a huge one. Not abandoning yourself in moments of need. This comes down to the micro moments of need. Do you need to step away from your computer? Take a break, go for a short five minute walk. We self abandon constantly so many times in the day. And if you have no choice but to do that, allowing that time, perhaps using the full Moon as an anchor to recover yourself and say, yeah, I might have had to push myself, but now I'm gonna give myself some deep nourishment and deep recovery time. And definitely reparenting could look like learning to be with your feelings rather than outsourcing your self-worth by going shopping or looking for constant reassurance from others, naming or claiming them as wrong or incorrect, but being with them, and we spoke about this in one of the past episodes around inflammation in the perimenopause and how to cope with pain, painful emotions, difficult emotions. When you begin to respond to your inner child with curiosity and compassion, you really shift how you relate to the world. You begin to regulate from within. So even when there's external chaos, which for me that is the truth, there is chaos in the environment right now. I have learned to find that inner resourcing. That allows me to regulate enough so that I don't go into a stress response, or if I do. Then I can come back and recover, which means I'm not in chronic pain. I overcome illnesses. I can have enough head space to focus on my business and help my wonderful clients who move me to tears often, when I see themselves facing and feeling and honoring their body and stop that self abandonment. I am gonna have to, take a pause and a breath there'cause I've got emotion flowing through me. And that might be true for you in cancer season and particularly under the Cancer New Moon. So honor them my loves. You are very welcome to join us in the holistic health circle so you can come to our new Moon ceremony or catch it on replay and all the resources around that which are available. So lots of nervous system regulation techniques alongside the most important thing, which is in there, which of course, information is empowering the tools and the practices are in there. But the community, my loves, the community is the thing that really allows you to see. Be seen, be felt, be heard. Things are normalized and it is really about healing in community. And this mothering energy knows that, cancer as a sign really embraces and receives. And so maybe it's time for you to receive some support and nourishment. So thank you so much for listening. I'd love to know what your takeaway from this session is. What has been the most impactful thing for you? And if you think this has been useful for you and you might like to share it with someone that you love, or someone that would, might be in need of some extra nourishment, please feel free to share this, whether it's on WhatsApp or on Stories and Instagram, and I'll see you for the next Full Moon in about two weeks time.
